How to delete your mintus account & data

You can delete your mintus account at any time, either from inside the app or by emailing us. Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data subject to the retention rules described below. You do not need to keep using the app to retain control over your data.

If we need to verify your identity (because your registered email is not reachable), we will tell you what additional information we need; we will not request more information than is necessary to verify the request.

3. What is deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently deleted from our active systems:

4. What is retained, and why

Some information is retained for a limited period, or in some cases indefinitely, because we are legally required to keep it, because we need it to defend legal claims, or because it cannot technically be deleted. Specifically:

CategoryRetentionReason
Anonymised security and fraud logsUp to 24 monthsDetect and respond to abuse on the platform
Billing and tax records (Merchants)7–10 yearsMandatory under applicable tax / accounting law
AML / KYC records (Merchants, where collected)5 years after end of relationshipMandatory under anti-money-laundering law
Records of your deletion request itself3 yearsTo prove that we honoured your request
On-chain identifiers (DID, public keys, transaction history)PermanentThe public blockchain is immutable and not under our control. After deletion, we erase the off-chain link between your identity and these identifiers, so on-chain records become pseudonymous.

If you are subject to GDPR, PIPL or another regime granting a right to deletion ("right to be forgotten"), the retention rules above are claimed under the corresponding statutory exceptions: legal obligation, the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, or the technical impossibility of erasure on an immutable ledger. See our Privacy Policy §6 for full details.

5. Vouchers you hold or have issued

Before you delete your account, please consider the consequences for any active Vouchers:

6. Recovery during the grace period

For 30 days after you initiate deletion (the "grace period"), you may restore your account by signing in again, in case you changed your mind or the request was accidental. After the grace period the deletion is irreversible.

7. Uninstalling is not the same as deleting

Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account or the data we hold about you. To delete your account, follow §1 or §2 above. For uninstall instructions, see how to uninstall.

8. Questions

If you have any questions about account deletion or your privacy rights, contact privacy@mintus.world. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
